The End Game is an exemplar of theoretically informed, methodologically rigorous qualitative work. The book may well join both long-time classics like Barbara Myerhoff’s Number Our Days () and contemporary classics like Eric Klinenberg’s Heat Wave () in introducing to a wide audience the indignities, inequities, and occasional. When I started reading this book, I had already learned a lot of the teachings of “End Game” through other books, but none I’ve read feels actually as complete and whole as End Game does. "End Game" - Will Robie #5, by David Baldacci, is not up to the standard of the earlier Will Robie books, suffering from a wandering plot and less than credible story line. Will's unaided and quick 'disposal' of 17 bad guys in just a few minutes at the beginning of the book (not a spoiler) was so unbelievable that it was surely facetious/5.

I mentioned in my review of David Baldacci’s previous Will Robie book, The Guilty (published in ), that it wasn’t a series I knew well. In fact, I was a latecomer to the series but that book took Will (and his erstwhile partner Jessica Reel) out of his usual 4/5. Part of what makes a good endgame book (or any chess book) is the choice of games, explanations etc, and I think the choice of games and examples in Mirkovic's books are good.
