Acclaimed novelist Kenneth Roberts shows his knack and skill for producing an epic that can proudly stand the test of time, using language and descriptions that are easily comprehended by generations of readers looking for historical novels on the Revolutionary War.
The book is small by Roberts Standards. It has many strengths and is fairly under rated. Often when reading Kenneth Roberts the lead is the weakest part of the book. The exceptions are in Arundel, Northwest Passage and this book.
The lead in this book is excellent and the side kick is pretty good. Many people beat this book up unfairly in the /5(11). The reader is strongly advised to read Lydia Bailey first. The book while predictable is an utter delight to read. The hero of the book is more likable than other Roberts works.
In Roberts other works the star is usually the heroes best friend Cap Huff, Sgt McNott, Tom Buell or King Dick. King Dick does appear in this book and is heroic/5(13). Arundel is a work of historical fiction by Kenneth Roberts.
Despite it being nearly pages in length, it doesn’t take all that long to read. Roberts manages to pack in a lot of excitement into his story line.
